Architecture, Room and Structural Acoustics in Modern Studio Construction

As part of the “SAE x Future” series, Dirk Noy, Partner and General Manager Europe at WSDG, will lead a masterclass on modern studio design.
The lecture will examine the evolution of studio design at the intersection of architecture, room acoustics and structural acoustics, exploring how studios have developed from the early days of multitrack recording to today’s flexible production environments. Noy will discuss how sound propagation, reverberation, insulation, and architectural design choices underpin the acoustic quality of production and performance spaces.
Additionally, the session will provide insights into the wide-ranging career paths in the audio and acoustics industry, from studio and media technology to sound reinforcement design, research, development, and education, showing the variety of opportunities available in engineering firms, industry, cultural institutions, or as independent experts.
